Visit to Canada
Canada is a country in the North American continent located right above the United States and is known as a highly developed country. The demand of people to travel to Canada has been steadily increasing the last few years, but most people wonder how they can get to Canada.

Canada Visitor Visa

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), also referred to as a visitor visa, is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office that is placed in your passport to show that you have met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident (either as a visitor, a student, or a worker).

Who Can Apply for Visitor Visa?

Visitors are persons who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and are legally authorized to enter Canada to:

visit Canada on holiday (vacation),
visit family,
conduct business, etc.

There are two types of Canadian visitor visas: single entry visas and multiple entry visas.

A single entry visa allows foreign nationals to enter Canada for one-time only.

A multiple entry visa allows holders to enter and leave Canada as often as they want as long as the visa is valid. You don’t need to choose which kind to apply for, applicants are automatically considered for multiple entry visas and are only issued single entry visas under unique circumstances.

How Long Can a Visitor Stay In Canada?

Most visitors are allowed a six-month stay from the day they entered Canada. If the officer authorizes a stay of less than six months, they will indicate in your passport the date by which you must leave Canada.

If you want to stay longer than your authorized stay, you should apply for an extension at least 30 days before the authorized end of your stay.

A visitor visa may be for single entry or multiple entry use. Single entry visas may be issued up to six months before the expected date of travel. The maximum validity date for multiple entry visitor visas is up to ten (10) years or one month prior to the expiry date on the passport/re-entry visa, whichever is earlier. POE officers will routinely grant entry for a period of six months to a person requesting entry as a visitor.

How do I apply for a Canada visit visa?

You may need to attend an interview where the visa officer will verify:

  • Your reasons for visiting Canada.
  • Your ability or willingness to leave Canada when the visa expires.
  • Your overall admissibility to Canada.
  • A visit visa is issued and you can come to Canada. At the port of entry an immigration officer will question the applicant to ensure admissibility.
